The Orange Police Department has adopted a philosophy of partnering with the community. The use of dedicated volunteers is one way of incorporating this philosophy. The OPD Volunteer Program is made up of Orange residents who have successfully graduated from the Citizen Police Academy and decided they want to give back to their community. Volunteers assist with a variety of in-house clerical support, as well as with field assignments including:

Volunteer Requirements

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Work or live in the City of Orange
  • Successful completion of the Citizen Police Academy
  • Availability Monday - Thursday between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm
  • Ability to commit to regularly scheduled four hours per week
  • Occasionally assist with special events that may fall outside regular hours, such as the Child DNA Program, in addition to regular assignments
