The City of Orange, in collaboration with the Orange Fire Department and the Orange Police Department, offers the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. CERT is about readiness, people helping people, rescuer safety and doing the greatest good for the greatest number of people.

  • The training educates people about disaster preparedness and how to assist neighbors and coworkers following an event when professional responders are not immediately available.
  • The classroom training and hands on drills teach community members about fire safety, light search and rescue, triage, first aid, team organization, disaster psychology, terrorism, and disaster medical operations.
  • The free trainings are being held throughout the year, however classes fill up quickly. Interested businesses and residents should submit an application at their earliest convenience.
